The Happy Family – SPADE CSR Initiative paves the way
There was no dearth of love and emotions for one another, the gluing factors of bonding, in the family of Pabitra and Dhatri Barsa, but of solvency. The incessant ambition of Dhatri to lead a decent life and offer a dignified future for the children inspired her to grab the opportunity of forming a Self Help Group (SHG) with support from SPADE under TPCDT CSR Project in her village of Khanpur under Guaberia Gram Panchcyat of Suthata Block in Purba Medninpur district.
Thus, she along with some of her co village women promoted their SHG named ‘Tara SHG’ and opened Account in BGVB, Kukrahati branch and started saving Rs. 30/- per month to qualify and avail an initial cash credit loan amounting to Rs 1.5 lakhs and then become eligible for and availing of Rs. 5 lakhs with further capacity building support from SPADE experts.
A judicious decision of Dhatri and Pabitra utilized their share, i.e. Rs 1.5 lakhs in purchasing an auto rickshaw of their own by way adding Rs. 40000/- as matching money. The wise utilization of the loan endowed Pabitra with emancipation from the hazardous, low remunerative and undignified occupation of a brick kiln labourer and the family with enhanced regular income from self employment. Now, the income of the family has escalated to Rs 12000/- month that has lent income stability and smile to its members and dream farther for a glorious future for the growing children.
