To observe his birthday with deepest respect for this towering man of India, especially on his significance in the context of present day, SPADE and IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association, Kolkata organised a special online event on 26thSeptember, 2021 at 6 PM IST (08:30 am EDT). The event had sessions with talks from:
- Grassroot women leaders from different parts of Bengal will speak about Vidyasagar and his influence on their life and activities.
- Girl students from rural Purulia to share their own feelings about this great man.
- Shri Gopal Ghosh, social worker, writer and thinker.
- Smt. Sujata Roy, 1975 MSc from IIT-KGP and retired as General Manager, IBM, India. Presently, she is COO, National Digital Library of India, a national e-library Project of Government of India.
- Shri Shyama Prasad Mandal, 1985 graduate from IIT-KGP, who grew up in rural Purulia, West Bengal, and now a USA resident.
- Prof. Ajoy Kumar Ray, Padma Shri; Former Director, IIEST Shibpur; Former Professor, IIT Kharagpur.
- Vote of Thanks by Siddhartha Ray Chaudhuri, Secretary, TAA, Kolkata Chapter.
