1. Project Title: COVID-19 Response West Bengal

Project theme: Disaster Response

Deliverables: Distribution of Dry Ration Kits (rice, arhar dal, wheat flour, mustard oil, tea power, sugar, salt, coriander powder and chilli powder) and Hygiene Kits (containing bucket with lid, bathing soap, detergent bar, sanitary napkin and NADCC Tablets) to 400 each beneficiary families.

Areas: Namkhana Block of South 24 Paraganas and Barabazar Block of Purulia district.

Activities:

  • Beneficiary selection as per criteria mentioned above.
  • Identifying and organising strategic distribution spot for the beneficiaries to have easy access.
  • Coupon Distribution.
  • Sanitising Distribution Spot.
  • Distribution of Relief Materials strictly abiding by COVID safety protocol.

2. Project Title: Humanitarian Response to Cyclone Affected Communities in West Bengal, India

With support from: IGSSS and Pennyappeal.

Deliverables:

  • To provide shelter to the families by repairing houses damaged by cyclone.
  • People have access to improved water and sanitation facilities and demonstrate increased hygiene awareness.
  • To restore and rehabilitate cyclone affected families through livelihood support.

Area: Patibunia village under Sibrampur GP in Namkhana Block, South 24 Paraganaas.

Activities:

  • Shelter repair to 60 identified HHs through conditional cash transfer,
  • Raising the platforms and disinfection of 5 identified tube wells and WASH sensitisation,
  • Reviving the backyard kitchen garden for 120 HHs by providing input support of seeds, manures, etc.,
  • Horticulture seed/sapling distribution for 120 affected families, and
  • Cash for Work support for 10 man days per person for 100 beneficiary HHs @ INR 250 / man day.

3. Project Title: Sustainable Livelihood (SOUL)

With support from: IGSSS and Miserior

Project Theme: Sustainable Livelihood

Deliverables:

  • The nutritional situation has improved, particularly for women and childfen under the age of five. The range of available food has increased.
  • Incomes of smallholder farmers and landless families have increased through the adoption of diversified and innovative livelihood options.
  • Communities are able to manage their natural resources sustainably.
  • CBOs function as self sufficient, sustainable and democratic spaces for local political participation in matters of rural livelihood and development. They stand up for the rights of the community members.

Area: 2525 HHs in Nabadwip Block of Nadia district.

Activities:

  • Sensitization meeting with households with SAM/MAM children and anaemic mothers on addressing malnutrition and intake of tri colour food and animal protein consumption and WASH issues, Trainings on mask production. Sensitization meetings with CBOs on health and hygiene in the context of COVID 19 (like physical distancing) and process of monitoring Health camp/screening camp to identify the SAM/MAM children anaemic women and adolescent girls. Interface meeting for marketing of the masks, IGA.
  • Sensitization meetings with small landholding farmers on cultivation of flood-resistant crops & low water consuming crops and non-land based innovative livelihood options & Sensitization of small landholding farers on plant protection and nurturing of kharif crops and vegetables (support input cost for seeds). Facilitation support on an individual level trouble shooting mode of small landholding farmers on plant protection and nurturing of kharif crops and vegetables. Training to smallholder farmer beneficiaries on spices business including packaging, branding, marketing and financial literacy. Interface meeting for developing linkage with suppliers and buyers for spice marketing trade.
  • Participatory Hazard Vulnerability Capacity Analysis (HVCA) and Village Disaster Management Plan (VDMP) Preparation. Trainings and Mock Drill for Disaster Response Task Forces. Campaign on community as well as household level Preparedness for pre, during and post Disaster scenario including psycho social support in the context of COVID 19. Sensitization meetings with CBO’s including household Preparedness and micro planning.
  • Orientation of CBOs for working as vigilance committee for food security and wage related entitlements and preparing scheme specific list of deserving beneficiaries and reactivating job cards for home bound migrant workers. Orientation meeting of CBOs on process and need for participatory planning for increased participation in GPDP (micro planning). Orientation of CBOs for preparing plans and attending Gram Sansad and Gram Sabha meetings.
